Multicap Tasmania is committed to upholding the human rights of all participants in accordance with the NDIS Practice Standards, the NDIS Code of Conduct, and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

 

Multicap Tasmania is committed to developing an organisational culture that supports the legal and human rights of clients and ensures they are able to exercise those rights. 

 

Multicap Tasmania understands and supports the principles of fairness and human rights in all aspects of service delivery. It will ensure that services are provided in an environment free from discrimination, financial, sexual, physical and emotional abuse, neglect or exploitation.

 

Multicap Tasmania recognises and supports your rights to self-determination, independence and dignity, and the right to take calculated risks. We are committed to providing supports in an environment that actively prevents violence, abuse, neglect and exploitation.

 

Your rights

 

At Multicap Tasmania you are entitled to:

  • Participate in decisions about your life

  • Be supported to make informed choices with regard to risk

  • Receive sufficient information about the service and its terms of use

  • Privacy and confidentiality

  • Access information that the service has about you

  • Be treated with dignity and respect

  • Express your views and communicate freely

  • Access advocacy or a support person of your choice

  • Be included and supported to participate in social, economic and community life

  • Receive services that respect your culture, identity and beliefs

  • Be free from physical, sexual, emotional and verbal abuse

  • Have access to information on how to lodge a complaint if you are unhappy with any aspect of the service

  • Have complaints dealt with fairly and promptly

  • Be free from discrimination

  • Exercise choice and control over your lifestyle

  • Be informed on your rights, in a manner which is understandable at the beginning/before services are delivered, on an ongoing basis and when your rights change

  • Be informed if any of your rights may be limited or restricted and the reasons why

  • Have your rights respected while balancing the rights of others receiving services

  • Receive services in a fair, equitable and transparent way

  • Appeal decisions made about you and to have your appeal dealt with fairly

  • A safe and healthy environment within the service and the facilities

  • Understand information to make informed life choices 

 

If you reside in Multicap Tasmania facilities, you are entitled to:

  • Reasonable adjustments and modifications to your dwelling to meet your needs

  • Have your autonomy, privacy, intimacy and right to sexual expression respected

 

How we support your rights

At Multicap Tasmania we uphold your rights by:

  • Training staff in the NDIS Code of Conduct

  • Maintaining systems to prevent and respond to abuse, neglect and exploitation

  • Supporting informed choice and consent

  • Providing accessible information

  • Encouraging and responding to feedback and complaints

  • We are committed to continuous improvement to ensure the rights of participants are upheld at all times.

Your responsibilities

You are required to contribute to a safe and respectful environment by:

  • Respecting Multicap Tasmania staff and other clients

  • Communicating appropriately and respectfully at all times

  • Understanding that the home is a ‘workplace’ and that workplace health safety must be adhered to

  • Respecting the conditions on the agreed service plan between you and Multicap Tasmania

  • Participating in the development, implementation and review of your service plan, particularly in informing us of any changes/developments in your support needs,

  • Being responsible for your choices and the results of any decisions you make.

Terms and conditions of our Social Media Pages

Multicap Tasmania welcomes your feedback and encourages you to post comments, suggestions and questions. Multicap Tasmania has a moderation policy to protect all users of our social media presences.  

Multicap Tasmania reserves the right to reproduce, publish and use any and all parts of any comments, suggestions and questions posted on our social media presences in any way it sees fit.  

You should not post any material that a reasonable person would consider:  

  • Includes any abusive, obscene, indecent or offensive language  

  • It is defamatory, abusive, harassing or hateful and capable of damaging the reputation of a person or organisation.  

  • Constitutes spam, unauthorised advertising or solicits  

  • Invades anyone’s privacy or impersonates anyone or any organisation 

  • Encourages conduct that may or would constitute a criminal offence or give rise to civil liability, or that otherwise violates any law  

  • Appears to contain irrelevant or excessive links or appears to contain code  

  • Includes inappropriate usernames that are vulgar or offensive  

  • You should not post content that you do not have the necessary rights, licences and consents to post (for example, material covered by copyright law) 

Posts on Multicap Tasmania social media sites will not be moderated before they appear. If Multicap Tasmania becomes aware of a post that breaches Multicap Tasmania moderation policy, we may remove it.  

Notwithstanding any moderation, Multicap Tasmania cannot be held responsible for the comments posted on its social media presences.

No reliance should be placed on any comments.

Multicap Tasmania does not endorse, approve or promote any comments appearing on its social media presences, nor the authors thereof.  

Continual breaches of this moderation policy, which result in content being removed, may result in users being banned from the site. 

We value your feedback on a positive experience you have had with us or how we can improve Multicap Tasmania’s services. We also want to know if you are not happy with the service you have received or believe you have not been treated fairly and reasonably by us or by someone delivering services on our behalf.

 

You can give us this feedback verbally or in writing.
